Been to Topshop

I’m wearing a totally generic Topshop dress, which everyone and their mother probably own in one of the many colours. I’m blaming Alexa Chung for this, or actually thanking her!

Not only did I spy the dress ages ago, but have obviously seen the array of bloggers sporting them. I loved the dress but something about my local Topshop shoving it down my throat each time I walked in put me off. Then we all saw those pictures of Alexa wearing it at Glastonbury and for me it became a lustful item. While in Topshop I saw the dress in my size and casually decided to try it on, fell in love and bought it immediately.

I clearly love Topshop and will never stop buying from there but there seems to be a bit of a taboo around dressing like a Topshop model! Why? They look bloody brilliant! I think it is easy to style their pieces without looking like a clone (clearly not my aim with this outfit, however.)  Maybe it’s because I live in an area where vintage is king?! When I walked out the house in this dress I felt like a tool, half expecting the ‘trendies’ to point and laugh “Topshop” at me! Maybe I just need to get over obsessing what people think of me!

Anyway, I opted for the petite version of this dress, as Alexa’s leg are something I will sadly never be able to replicate and the standard size drowned my wee chunky stumps. Despite having the nickname ‘Wee Mo’ petite is something I am not, so reaching for things high up is a bit of a struggle – excuses to be lazy number 73.

To copy Alexa even more (come on, we all do it!) I wanted to steer away form the girlyness of this dress so teamed it with my new studded boots! I scoured ebay for them after almost asking a girl in the street if I could buy them off her. New fave shoes!!! The leather biker I lost on the stupid bus (which you can read about here) is also something I wanted to team the dress with so again I scoured ebay and found it!! Yeah!! I had hoped to be wearing it today but the seller has taken an age to post it and apparently it will arrive tomorrow. I’ll no doubt be wearing this outfit with the jacket, over the weekend so will maybe get some better pictures then.

  3. I've had my eye on that dress myself, it's so lovely and the flower pattern on the mid section is really pretty.

I look for inspiration at times and Alexa is a favourite of mine, I've grew fond of her lately. She can do boyish and girly really well.

Yess you found the jacket! Make sure you do a post including it, I'd like a leather jacket but they never seem to suit me! I'm more of a cardigan girl I think! xxxx
